"DRAMA AS A METHOD OF TEACHING "

http://www.carnegielibrary.org/kids/storymaker/embed.cfm

Process drama in school settings usually involves the whole class working with the teacher in role in a made up scenario. When they are working in process drama, the students and teachers work together to create an imaginary dramatic world within which issues are considered and problems can be solved.

"SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN"

“CHILDREN’S LITERATURE RESPONSE WORKSHEET”

SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN:

1. Please write a brief summary of the literature book that you read in your group.

An epic fantasy film. Now, detailing the plot shouldn't be too hard, as we all know the story from childhood- Evil Queen with talking mirror is hell-bent on killing her 'pure' step-daughter and hires a Huntsman to do the job for her. The Huntsman takes pity on the girl when he finds her, and together they become fugitives, going on a journey that involves meeting Dwarfs. Seven of them to be precise. What follows is a major battle between good and evil to determine who will reign over the Kingdom, the evil Queen or our heroine Snow White?

2. Name some of the hardships that the characters in your story faced.

Is unable to rescue Snow White, who is captured by Ravenna's brother Finn. Snow White is then locked away in the north tower of the castle.
The Huntsman kills Finn after learning he abetted in the murder of his wife. William reveals himself and helps defeat the soldiers before joining the others in their journey to Hammond's castle.
The Dwarves infiltrate Tabor through the sewers and open the gates, which allow the Duke's army to invade the castle. Snow White confronts Ravenna, but is overpowered. Ravenna is about to kill Snow White and consume her heart when Snow White stabs her in the heart instead, causing Ravenna to wither and die. Hammond's army is victorious, and Snow White is crowned Queen of the restored kingdom.

3. Tell how the main character is both similar and different than you.
Similar: Snow White was a strong woman, because she lived many things to have happiness and her prince. All situations help her to strong her personality and have the support of other important people like the huntsman. This is similar in my life because the hardships in general help me to face the life and continue with the story.
Different: Beauty is not for life, but must face difficult situations and people that don’t like us instead of fleeing, because it makes things worse.

"THE IMPORTANCE OF TEACHING LITERATURE TO STUDENTS"

English language teaching methodologies:

·         Literature is authentic material. It is good to expose learners to this source of unmodified language in the classroom.

DRAWING: WHY DO IT?

Our young people need some remedial visualization experiences, some encouragement and practice with creating sensory images as they read. Drawing, charting, mapping, and other forms of graphic response also serve the range of learning styles that exist in any real classroom. Too often, we confine student’s literary responses to written or spoken language, even though we know that some of our own most powerful responses to a book come from a vision of the place. Our image of a character, or the picture we make of a single stunning moment. Many times, a drawn or graphic response can capture those elements better than more words.

Teaching literature with new methodologies allows children and young people to develop their potential and steer it in a new and interesting creative learning through drawing.

"CRITICAL THINKERS"

- Look for options: I need to look at all the options presented to us at the time to have an opinion about some knowledge in this same way to establish our own thought to have strong arguments.

-Exhibit sensitivity to others’ feelings and depth of knowledge: Is important to consider the feelings of others, when to make a review about anything, because we have to be very diplomatic to not offend the susceptibility of the other, but retain the root of a thought that creates the search for new knowledge.

-Use credible sources: Currently taking the Internet as a tool, we must remember the sources we consulted and in which we rely to think critically but that also is true, and provide a higher knowledge.
